Book signing by local author Helena Harper

Posted on September 13, 2010 by

Local author Helena Harper will be signing copies of her latest book at Waterstones in the Peacocks Centre, Woking, on Saturday 25th September between midday and 3.00 pm and would love to say ‘Hello’ to any fellow Knaphill residents who are in town on that day.

Helena’s book, entitled: Family and More – Enemies or Friends? is a poetic memoir, in which she delves into the lives of her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews – even bosses from hell – and draws out the precious lessons their lives and experiences, and those of her own life, have taught her. One of Helena’s favourite stories is that of her adopted Aunt, who became a motorcycling world record holder at Brooklands in 1930, when she was only 15. Her German mother and English father met in Hamburg at the end of World War II and faced many challenges. For Helena the most valuable lesson she has learnt is that we are all one human family and we have so much more in common than we think we have.

Helena has lived in Woking for 35 years, the last ten of them in Knaphill. Besides writing poems, she writes stories for young children and tutors privately. You can find out more about Helena on her website http://www.helenaharper.com.

The book is available now from Amazon and all good bookshops and directly from the publishers, Penpress info@penpress.co.uk.
