A message from Knaphill parents Amy & Stephen Deller – Joshua still needs our help and support

KRA were pleased to invite Joshua’s family to have a stall at the Knaphill Village Show in July and we asked Amy to write a short article for the website to bring us up to date on news of Joshua’s care and the fundraising for the Joshua Deller Appeal. Please see Amy’s message:

Many local residents will be aware that our son Joshua was diagnosed with an aggressive childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma when he was just 6 months old.

He has battled hard for the last 20 months but despite this, the odds are still stacked against him which is why we set up an appeal last July for pioneering treatment abroad.

With thanks to the amazing support of the community, we have raised over £200,000 which has enabled Joshua to start antibody treatment in New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre. He has received 2 cycles so far, as well as a month of chemotherapy and we hope to be back in the next month for his 3rd cycle of antibodies.

Joshua has recently celebrated his 2nd Birthday and is coping well with treatment. His hair has grown back and he is able to enjoy a relatively “normal” life in between treatment and weekly hospital appointments.

We were pleased to see many friends at the Knaphill Village Show and really grateful for the funds raised by people supporting our stall. We would like to thank everyone who has given so generously and ask that you continue to show your support as we still have to raise more money in order for Joshua to complete the treatment.

With our best wishes,

Amy, Stephen & Joshua Deller, Queens Road, Knaphill
