Local shops under threat again – Sainsburys

Last year Sainsbury’s of Redding Way applied to build a single-storey stand alone dry- cleaning pod to the front of the store. The pod, to be managed for Sainsbury’s by Timpson’s, would also do shoe repair, key cutting and other similar activities.  The application was rejected last November on the grounds that it was not an essential part of Sainsbury’s business and had the potential to hard the vitality and viability of Knaphill local shops.

The Residents’ Association have been informed that Sainsbury’s have now launched an appeal against the decision of WBC to reject the plan. Residents have until 10 April to comment.

Lets hope that WBC are going to vigorously defend their decision to reject the application.  Residents and local businesses can submit their objections to the Planning Inspector. Detals can be found either on the Planning Inspectorates website or WBC’s website.

The reference for the planning application is PLAN/2014/1017 and the reference for the appeal APP/A3655/W/15/3004607.
