Sleeping Rough so others don’t have to

On the 29th January 2011 a number of Knaphill residents will be taking part in a special event in Woking. They will be ‘sleeping rough’, sleeping outside for a night, to raise awareness of young people who are homeless and suffer every night the cold, wet, hunger and loneliness.

The Sleep Easy event is being organised by staff at the Woking YMCA – ypod. The people taking part will be friends of Woking YMCA and other local people who want to support this worthwhile cause. They aim to raise awareness and also to raise money to support YMCA’s own housing project, a safe warm place for young people who have nowhere to go at night, to go and stay there and relax, and be safe. This is an important project for Woking YMCA; they work mostly with young people and they want to help reduce the numbers of young people who are homeless in the local community.

This is the local YMCA’s second year taking part in this event and they are hoping to raise funds to help more young people in need. Best wishes to all those taking part from Knaphill Residents’ Association.
