Something to think about – affecting woodlands and forests all over the country

0

Knaphill residents have had the benefit of the support of the Woodland Trust in preserving our local small woodland adjacent to Waterers Park. The Woodland Trust is the country’s leading woodland conservation charity and they are concerned about the Government’s ‘Consultation’ on the future of national woodland currently managed by the Forestry Commission.

Please don’t just sit back and let this issue pass you by. Look at the Forestry Commission website to find out about the amazing resources they offer: www.forestry.gov.uk
See the DEFRA site and find out what the Government is proposing:  http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/forests/index.htm
and read the Woodland Trust’s response
http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/en/campaigning/save-ancient-forests/Pages/fc-disposals-consultation-wtresponse.aspx?WT.mc_id=fc-response

This may not be happening in Knaphill but this issue can have an impact on the places we visit, the open spaces we currently enjoy, the ancient woodlands we want to preserve for future generations to share; places like Alice Holt and the New Forest. You can see www.saveenglandsforests.org for more information about which forestry sites are likely to be affected.

Please, find out what is being proposed and make sure you have your say!

You can sign one of the online petitions and/or also send your views to our local MP Jonathan Lord by email: jonathan.lord.mp@parliament.uk
