Stolen car crashes into Knaphill shop front

Commuters making their way through Knaphill on Friday morning were shocked to see a large Mercedes Estate Car embedded in the shop front of Mann & Co in the centre of the village. The car had crashed in Knaphill during the early hours.

Sarah Greenland, the Knaphill Mann & Co Manager explained that she believed that the car had been stolen from Goldsworth Park overnight. It was speeding along the High Street sometime between 5 and 6 am and swerved to avoid another car.  The driver lost control and the Mercedes crashed into the estate agents’ shop front. Apparently the driver ran off leaving two female passengers in the car; the two young women are in police custody. Police and Emergency Services were soon at the scene.

The car is a write-off and the shop front is being repaired and made safe overnight.
Staff have temporarily moved to the Woking Office and they are trying to carry on ‘business as usual’. The Knaphill Branch Manager asked KRA to thank everyone who has sent good wishes and to reassure residents that staff are fine. Thankfully no one was on site at the time of the crash and so none of the staff was hurt.

  1. This must be one of the most unluckly buildings in Knaphill. In the past few years it has caught fire, being flooded out and now driven into. What a lark!
