New KRA Logo

Winner of the logo colouring competition AmberAt the Knaphill Village Show on Saturday, we ran a colouring competition to give our KRA logo a splash of colour. This proved very popular and we had heaps of brightly coloured entries. I’m thrilled to say that a winner was selected by local expert Hannah Bruce of Woking Art Society, and she chose this beautiful entry by local resident Amber, aged just 7 years. What a stunning picture! A future artist in the making, I’m sure. This winning entry will be proudly displayed on our website for the next year. I hope you join me in congratulating Amber, and all the other budding artists out there who took the time to colour in an entry.

The Knaphill Village Show for Animal Lovers

For Animal Lovers… If you’re coming along with your dog, then do be sure to check out Oscar’s fun dog show. It’s just for a laugh, and everyone is welcome to come along and sign up to take part or watch. Who knows? It might even be your pooch leaving with a rosette. And if not, then you can pop along to Barking Mad, our stall selling pet tags and accessories to make sure your furry friend leaves feeling happy too! We welcome all dogs to the Village Show so long as they are on the lead and well behaved. Just make sure you pick up after them – no one likes to step in poop! 😀

The Knaphill Village Show for Families

For Families… Well really, where do I begin?! We know that Summer fairs are adored by families, and this one in particular is the absolute highlight! And I’m not just saying that because we’ve asked every single stallholder to organise something fun for you to do, but also because we’ve been seeking out local businesses that we think will provide us with that something extra to entertain and inform. For example BusyBees will be getting those little ones a little bit crafty and also facepainting, BusyLizzy will be telling us about the Mum & Child classes they run, Usbourne books will be there with their fabulous range of childrens classics to inspire younger minds, and our sponsor Enjoy-A-Ball organising a whole host of fun games and activities that you can take part in all afternoon, with prizes to be won. Plus we also have a stall from brand new imaginative play centre, Treasure Cove, which is soon to be opening in Woking – so pop by their stall to find out more.

Oh, and did I forget to mention that we also have Beat the Goalie (with Knaphill Athletic FC), archery, bouncy castle, merry-go-round, coconut shy, skittles, colouring competitions, facepainting and so much more! All set in the one of the most picturesque venues in Knaphill, Mizen’s miniature railway, which will be running a full service throughout the afternoon.

The Knaphill Village Show For Foodies

We know that the Knaphill Village Show is a brilliant event, and is the highlight of the events calendar not just for the village itself, but for the local area. As well as being entertained all afternoon by live acts and live music, we thought we’d round up a few of the other reasons why you might want to pop along (in case you’re not yet convinced)…

For Foodies… If you’re into your food, then this really is the event for you, because not only do we have delicious cakes hand made by the WI, in our station house, and our usual scrummy barbeque, this year we also are pleased to welcome the Tipsy Pigs serving a range of Hog Roast yummies straight from their fab VW van. Or if you’re buying to take away then the first stop has to be dessert from Salvation Cakes. If you prefer your treats savoury, then check out the wide range of cheeses from the Cheese Man, or help yourself from the nuts and olives bar. We are thrilled that Boz’s Fruit & Veg, our brand new addition to the village scene, will also have a stall to show off the freshest & finest produce. If you have a sweet tooth, but won’t tolerate any nasty rubbish then check out Ding Dong Desserts Ding Dong Desserts where you can get fresh fruit smoothies, frozen yoghurt, handmade waffles, and shakes all made to order.

Fake Banknotes

Some of our high street retailers have raised concern with us over the growing number of fake banknotes circulating in the area.

Please be vigilant, and if you have any concerns take your notes to a bank where they can be properly checked and dealt with accordingly.

But we can’t do it without your input, so what would you like to see there? Do you have a band? Do you run a refreshments or catering company? The Meadows is up for sale

The former NHS hospital on the Bagshot Road, next to The Nags Head, has been put up for sale. The building owned by Surrey and Borders NHS Trust has stood empty since 2013 and basically left to rot. Due to poor security the internal fittings have been totally vandalised. We understand that Woking Borough Council showed some interest in using the building but given its current state pulled out of talks. with the owners. The building is probably now only fit for demolition and I presume replaced by housing. What a waste.
