BROOKWOOD FARM SALE OF LAND
Woking Borough Council have announced that CALA Homes paid £17 million to WBC for the land and grant rights on the 16-acre site. In addition the Council receive £8,596,000 through what they call Section 106 Planning Agreement. The money under the heading S106 will be used to pay for new school and footpath to Brookwood Canal. The third payment WBC receive is £2.8 million from the new homes bonus paid by central Government. This makes a total of £28 million coming to Woking Borough Council, how much will be spent on Knaphill and its residents?
What WBC have not said is whether the money from the sale of the land is more or less than budgeted. We know that the majority of the money from the land sale will go to wards the cost of the Hoe Valley Scheme.

PRESS RELEASE: New Home Interiors Shop ‘Pops Up’ in Knaphill
A new ‘pop up’ shop has just opened on Anchor Hill, Knaphill, and is already creating quite a buzz among the local shoppers.
Long term Knaphill resident, Richard Burt, is selling off his unique and personal collection of antiques, china, glassware, furniture and collectables.
But ‘Knaphill Interiors’, on Anchor Hill will only be trading for a few months, so you’ll need to take a look soon rather than later!
“After over 35 years here in Knaphill, I’ve decided to put my property on the market and retire to Dorset”, said Richard, a former Florist in village. “I ran ‘Forget-Me-Not Flowers’ here for many years before leasing out my shop premises. Now the recent tenants have relocated, I’ve decided the time is right to make the move.”
With his sharp eye for visual design in flowers, Richard has a developed a passion for collecting fine pieces of interior design over the years. “I admit I’ve been a bit of a hoarder,” he said. “I’ve always been one to spot the potential in something, but I’ve run out of storage space here and I know there just won’t be the room in my new home.”
With the now vacant retail unit at the front of his property, he decided it would be a great idea to sell off some of his collection at very affordable prices for those who appreciate the finer details. “I’d heard the term ‘pop up restaurant’ and thought the idea of a ‘pop-up shop’ would be a good way for me to get into the sorting and clearing mood. I have far too many beautiful items and would love for others to be able to cherish them as much as I have!”
Richard’s freehold 3 bedroom property including the Anchor Hill 250sq ft retail unit is being marketed for sale by Seymours in Knaphill. “This really is a unique opportunity. Mr Burt’s home is stylishly presented,” said Seymours Partner, Simon Stone. “The lock-up shop at the front is self contained and can either be let out generating an extra income or used for a new or existing business by the purchaser.”
“I’ll be sad to be leaving friends behind”, said Richard, “but I know that others will be able to take pleasure in the things I’m leaving behind by selling them off in the shop.”
Knaphill Interiors (next to the Barbers on Anchor Hill) is open 10am-5pm Wednesday to Saturday and at other times by arrangement. Call Richard on 01483 488763 for further details or visit the website at http://knaphillinteriors.co.uk.
Gaming Parody Launched to Support Peer Productions
Today fledgling indie game company Not Games release NGTAV, an affectionate satire of Grand Theft Auto V, last years best selling game. Every member of the NotGames team credits Peer Productions with having had a transformational effect on their lives, and say they are determined that the charity’s amazing work should continue. 100% of the profits from NotGTAV will be donated to Peer Productions.
After learning of Peer Productions recent struggle for funding a resolute group of former students and current staff have come together to create NotGames, an imaginative approach to fundraising.
The team have put their creativity to work developing a humorous, hand drawn, 20 minute gaming romp along the M4 corridor, available to buy for Windows PC (XP upwards). Every element of the game has been created by the team, from the deliberately naive graphics style to the sound effects and music which are all made using only the voices of the team. NotGTAV has several difficulty modes ranging from Wii Mode (the easiest) to Dark Souls Mode (probably impossible).
NotGTAV is available on a “Give what you want” deal. Purchasers can select any price from 10p upwards, although the suggested donation is £1.99.
NotGTAV features three characters – Daffyd, a Welsh farmer with a dodgy caravan site; Darren, a wannabe gangsta who hangs out in the LIDL car park, Swindon; and David Cameron, a Prime Minister of diminishing credibility. When playing as David Cameron, the player will be running over (among others) benefit scroungers, public sector workers, and liberals.
Peer Productions is the UK’s leading peer education arts charity. We work with young people and vulnerable groups to create educational theatre and film focusing on social issues such as teen pregnancy, domestic violence and homophobia. Since opening our doors in 2006 Peer Productions have reached over 70,000 young people, more than 17,000 in the last year alone.
To reach their funding target Not Games need to 15,000 copies of NotGTAV at the suggested donation of £1.99.
NotGTAV is on Sale now at notgames.co.uk.
